Information about the election
What are we electing?
We are electing the 43 members of the student parliament of the university of Bonn. The election is based on a voting system of "personalised" proportional representation. The seats are assigned according to the Webster/Sainte-Laguë method.
When does the election take place?
The election takes place from the 19th until 22nd of January 2026 It is held jointly with the election of the university committees which are organized by the university administration.
How can I check whether I am eligible to vote?
Between December 8 and December 11, the electoral register will be available at Endenicher Alle 19, 53115 Bonn, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Anyone who is enrolled as a regular student in the student body by December 5 is eligible to vote. Guest students and auditors are therefore not eligible. The electoral register will be compiled for this cut-off date. If you are a student at the University of Bonn by December 5, you are eligible to vote and will be included in the electoral register. If you are not included in the electoral register, you can submit a written objection to the register to the election committee by December 17 at 12 noon.
I want to run for office, what do I need to do?
There are two different application forms that must be completed in order to stand as a candidate. Firstly, anyone who wishes to stand as a candidate must complete a candidate application form with their contact details. This form must be submitted in person to the election committee during our opening hours (December 16, 12 noon to 6 p.m., December 17, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.). On the other hand, there is a list application, in which individuals are collected as a list to run for election. For this application, the list form, including the order in which the individuals are running, must be sent by email to the election committee (sp-wahl@asta.uni-bonn.de). It should also be noted that (subject to change) a minimum of 35 supporting signatures are required for the list to be drawn up. In addition to the application, a submission to the election newspaper must also be included. Further information can be found in the election announcement.
